I design a complete dust collection solution for my X-Carve with standard spindle. It has adjustable dust boot height for accommodating different depths, removable shop vacuum connector for adjusting dust boot height, and fits the Z-Axis with quiet cut 300W spindle upgrade. An optional fan support keeps my spindle running cooler since my original spindle failed. This system uses cyclonic dust collection or not, but it is beneficial to have one to avoid cleaning out the shop vacuum after each cut. Once installed, there is enough space between the spindle carriage and dust boot for wrench access to milling bit replacement. I have been using this setup on my X-Carve for many hours with great results. Future upgrade (if I get to it): I plan to replace the Brush Door Sweep with McMaster Carr Easy-Cut Strip Brush when I get to order one from their website http://www.mcmaster.com/#7900t5/=z1hche. Additional mounts for IP Camera as add-ons to fan mounts are also in my future plans. I will redesign Cyclone_dust_collector_to_bucket_adapter.svg to be used without a lid. Instructions Here are some notes just in case, but everything should be self-explanatory. Dustboot-_1_1-4_hose.stl may need sanding after printing. 12_inch_bucket_inner_frame.svg is designed to prevent the bucket from collapsing when large material clogs the system. Cyclone_dust_collector_to_bucket_adapter.svg goes over the bucket lid and must be drilled for dust deposit. The hole must be larger than the cyclonic dust collection bottom opening. I use 4x 1/4"-20 x 1-1/2" Hex Bolts and 4x 1/4"-20 Hex Nuts to mount cyclonic dust collector onto Cyclone_dust_collector_to_bucket_adapter.svg. I also use 3x 1/4"-20 x 1-1/2" Hex Bolts and 3x 1/4"-20 Hex Nuts with hot glue for mounting Cyclone_dust_collector_to_bucket_adapter.svg onto the bucket lid. 24V DC Fan is connected to the same terminal block as the spindle, so it turns on and off together with the spindle. Door sweep spine is aluminum and requires bending before inserting under the dust boot. I bend door sweep into a U-shape then slide it under the dust boot. Once installed, I use two pliers, one to hold the spine and another to bend into a rough U-shape and trim the excess.
