Intex Pump to Summer Escapes Adapter
thingiverse
This is an adapter that connects an Intex pool pump outlet to a Summer Escapes connector, discharging filtered water back into the pool. Bought a new Summer Escapes pool and discovered that the included pump & filter were woefully inadequate for the pool's size. Thankfully, my old pool's pump still functioned perfectly well and was significantly more powerful (2500 GPH vs 1000 GPH). Since they were manufactured by different companies, their fittings weren't compatible. 3D printing came to the rescue! I decided to add shutoff valves from my old pool as well (another feature lacking in the Summer Escapes design). I've included SolidWorks 2016 source files for anyone who wants to modify things to their liking. The inlet adapters were available on Amazon, so I chose not to design this aspect. Print Settings: Printer: Custom FlexMendel Derivative Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 20-30% Notes: Printed in ABS with 4 walls for strength and leak-tightness under pump pressure. Post-Printing: Tried vapor smoothing to minimize water leakage. Sealed it in a jar with acetone-soaked paper towels for about an hour. Just a little smoothing occurred; I didn't want to overdo it. How I Designed This: I used SolidWorks 2016 to design this adapter, involving several iterations.
