Intex pool hose splitter
thingiverse
I'm excited to warm up my Intex Easy Set pool using creative methods. I've rigged up a makeshift heater using my BBQ, turning it into a functional heat-exchanger. By diverting water from the pump through this copper pipe contraption, I can efficiently transfer heat into the pool. A crucial splitter is needed to redirect some of the water flow towards the garden hose connected to the BBQ. This setup allows me to optimize the temperature increase by running cooler water through the heat-exchanger and then back into the pool. To ensure maximum efficiency, a cleverly designed printed piece fits snugly after the pump, directing water towards either the normal hose or a 16mm garden hose. The intersection is carefully crafted for optimal water flow, minimizing losses due to diameter changes. Please note that this is an ongoing project and has not been thoroughly tested yet. Although it's a work in progress, be aware that running water over the BBQ can be hazardous, especially with children around. It's crucial to keep them at a safe distance and ensure continuous pump operation to prevent steam buildup, which could lead to serious consequences for both pool equipment and nearby individuals. I've made some adjustments after testing this piece and discovered that it doesn't quite work as intended due to excessive resistance in the small hose, causing all water to flow through the larger hose instead. My heat-exchanger has a few issues with corners and leaks, so I'll attempt to fix those problems before re-testing.
