Intex Outlet Pool Heater
thingiverse
Designed to help heat my Intex 15' x 48" circular pool in the summer. It attaches to a standard 3/4" hose thread and has 3 bypass ducts in case the hose gets kinked or otherwise has excessive restrictions. It's a medium friction fit into the outlet and other than a dark-colored hose, has no other requirements; easily pops in and out as needed. I use it to augment a small solar heater, and it definitely helps to raise the pool temps a bit higher than they'd get otherwise. The bypass ducts are angled to the sides and downward, and the hose connector is at an 8 degree upward angle, to help reduce stress on the part and outlet. My pool uses an Intex 637R pump, which pumps around 1000 gal/hr nominally. When used with 75 feet of black garden hose, this can produce between 1 and 2 deg F (around 0.5 - 1.0 deg C) of temperature rise, at a flow rate through the garden hose of around 130 gal/hr flow rate (depending on the hoses, if they are kinked at all, etc.). This is around 1000 lb/hr of water being heated, or somewhere in the range of 1500 BTU/hr (~450 W). Potentially a very well coiled (especially longer) hose at noon in a more southern location could do as much as double this amount.
