Interpretation of 'vision box'
thingiverse
I'm really digging the "vision box" created by João Miranda. My take on this design features a 3D-printed foot with magnet inserts, which adds an extra layer of functionality to the overall piece. The secret lid is also printed in the same material, giving it a seamless look. The sides and cover of the housing are made from 2mm Plexiglas, which provides excellent durability and clarity. The dimensions for these components include: * 2x Side: 35mm x 32.5mm * 2x Side: 35mm x 50.5mm * 1x Cover: 37mm x 51.5mm + 32.5mm x 45.5mm When printed in black, the magnets are virtually invisible, but the lid is still somewhat visible. However, when printed in white, you can see a faint shadow of the magnets, and the lid is almost completely hidden from view. To make the most of this design, I recommend printing the lid in two separate pieces using the "....1_0" files provided. For the foot/stand, I'm using 10mm diameter x 2mm height neodym-magnets, while for the lid, I'm opting for 10mm diameter x 0.6mm height magnets. The latter are simply stuck in place with double-sided Scotch tape, which is later covered by double-sided tape. One minor challenge when working with this design is inserting the 2mm magnets into the printer while it's still operational. However, pausing the print job temporarily helps to alleviate this issue. In any case, I hope João Miranda will view my interpretation as a genuine tribute and not an act of copyright infringement. The process of reinventing his design took up a significant amount of time, and purchasing the original would have been much easier.
