Internet connection bandwidth monitor (FritzBox) with 7 segment display and esp8266
thingiverse
This tiny gadget keeps tabs on my internet connection in real-time. It displays the bandwidth usage in MB/s for upload and download - currently, it's showing 410Kb/s uploading and nearly 18Mb/s downloading. I rely on this device to quickly identify if something is amiss with my computer because someone is hogging our bandwidth :). I'm currently fetching this data from Home Assistant via API, but the actual data is sourced directly from my Fritz!Box. Maybe someday I'll find time to connect it straight to the box. The hardware consists of an 8-digit 7-segment display and a NodeMCU V3 microcontroller, powered via USB.
