The International Harvester S-Series is a medium and heavy-duty truck line produced by International Harvester. Initially, the term "S-Series" was used for Light Line trucks in 1956 and 1957 before being replaced by the A-series in 1958. In mid-1977, the S-series label was reintroduced as a replacement for the Fleetstar, while other versions of the S-Series were introduced in 1979 to succeed the Loadstar-series. Like the Loadstar, the S-Series trucks are commonly used for local delivery and can be semi-tractors or severe-service straight trucks. The S-Series also gained popularity in the school bus industry alongside its replacement, the 3800. The S-Series was International Harvester's last product line designed entirely by themselves before being produced until the end of the 1980s. Production of the second-generation S-Series ceased in 2001.
