Internal Overflow Strainer

I install a 1/2" PVC elbow on the inside of my overflow bulkheads. My shrimp love it as a water slide and I often find them in the sump later. Initially, I used a cap-style design but encountered issues when clogging occurred, resulting in a spill. To address this problem, I developed these modified designs that still offer straining capabilities while allowing unimpeded drainage when the water level rises. This custom style is inserted into a female 1/2" PVC fitting. **Updated 2019-03-29: A smaller gap version has been added to encourage small fry to swim through... unfortunately.
