Internal and External Dimension Test

Internal and External Dimension Test

This is a critical shrink test. Each internal dimension test STL consists of a 10mm tall strip with 10 holes of increasing size (1mm increment). The provided STLs range from 1 to 10mm, 11 to 20mm, 21 to 30mm, 31 to 40mm, and 41 to 50mm. The external dimension test STL is a 10mm thick piece with dimensions from 2mm to 30mm by 2mm increments. Each step accommodates the width of caliper for measurement at 4mm. My findings after conducting this test indicate that smaller internal features experience more shrinkage due to current slicers, while external feature shrinkage remains roughly constant at a negligible 0.013% with my specific setup. To offset the effects of shrinkage, I recommend scaling holes using an Excel table at the CAD stage and scaling models by +0.013% during slicing. If you require different sizes or have further questions, feel free to inquire. If you possess SolidWorks and know how to utilize design tables, you can generate custom sizes yourself.
