Internal 3d Printer Carbon Air Filter

I like the Nevermore series of filters a lot. But recent models are complicated and require a lot of hardware and time to make. I decided to design a probably less effective but significantly easier to print and use recirculating air scrubber. This is it. The only additional parts you need are a 5050 blower and some coconut based carbon. I use this with grains that are about 3mm average diameter but you could do bigger. Do not use acid washed carbon like for aquariums or water filters. Stick with coconut based charcoal products to avoid adding corrosive vapors to the inside of your printer.Change the carbon out easily by removing the cap and dumping it out. See the Nevermore folks recommendations for how often. I generally change it every month.Printing instructions0.2 layer heightAny filament that can withstand the internal temperatures of your printerTo build the cartridge, your printer must bridge a distance of 20mm without difficulty. Make sure your slicer makes the bridge in the shortest possible direction. Reorient the bridge angle or part if it does not! Supports are NOT recommended- but if you have to support the bridge make it very minimal with a large x-y gap around it.Infill is not critical. 4 perimeters recommended at 0.4 nozzle size. 3 Top / 3 Bottom layers minimum.I do not recommend scaling this in any direction. If there is a big demand for an even smaller model I can change the CAD and add more files.Use instructionsFill the cartridge's two chambers with carbon to the point where you can pressure fit the cap on and keep it from spilling. You can generally cram it in and the carbon will settle around.Add the blower fan pointing into the inner chamber with the cord exiting through the hole first. It will not be airtight and should not be.Install the outer shell with fan to the bottom or side of your printer using two-sided tape.Connect the fan's power connector to a fan header on your controller board and configure accordingly. This step will vary by printer, see the voron klipper example below if that matches your setup. You'd then activate it with “SET_FAN_SPEED FAN=airscrubber SPEED=0.8” or similar in your startup.## (Air Scrubber) - FAN [fan_generic airscrubber] pin: PD12 kick_start_time: 0.5Testing instructionsRun the fan using your printer's interface. You should feel a breeze emitting from the two holes in the cartridge cap. You might also test it with a VOC detector and let me know how it works for you!
