Intermittent Planetary Mechanism
grabcad
The described device generates a back-and-forth motion where each forward movement is longer than its corresponding backward counterpart, resembling an earlier published mechanism (Pendulum gear). It employs a planetary system with two inputs, namely the sun and ring gears. The arm serves as output. A unique intermittent feature drives the gears, moving one at a time. Consequently, the motion pattern is characterized by alternating periods of stillness and movement in a forward-backward sequence. Attached graphs illustrate this behavior.
