This project was created using Autodesk Inventor 2014 for dynamic simulation. The wheel's movement at 10 rotations per minute in both directions is driven by an imposed motion. However, friction and collision restitution are not included in the simulation. The wheel-in's rotation causes the pins to collide with the wheel-out's sidewalls, initiating its rotation. Remarkably, a 90-degree rotation of the wheel-in results in a 180-degree rotation of the wheel-out. The tight clearances between the pins and the wheel-out channels, as well as the wheel-out and wheel-in walls, allow us to observe which parts collide during movement. The animation also reveals minor displacements within their respective clearances. This is evident in the velocity graph shown in the "Output Grapher.jpg" image. However, defining the channel geometry for the wheel-out can be challenging due to instances where both pins contact it simultaneously. The presented solution is a rough estimate due to time constraints. Another important detail concerns the Inventor software's limitations. While the "Contact Set" and "Activate Contact Solver" work well in manual part movement, they are not considered during animation creation with Inventor Studio. As a result, dynamic simulation data was transferred to Inventor Studio using the "Publish to Studio" tool. To view the animation, download all files into a single directory and open the .iam file with Inventor 2014, 2015, or later versions. Access Environments > Dynamic Simulation and click Play. For faster rendering, reduce the image count from 6500 to 1300 as shown in the "Output Grapher.jpg" image. Enjoy your exploration!
