Intermittent 1 to 1 With Dwell Time II
grabcad
This second mechanism is one of three similar devices employing distinct approaches. It maintains a 1:1 input/output ratio; however, the output varies with time while the input remains continuous. A planetary (sun/arm/planet) system combined with a cam/follower mechanism is utilized here, featuring a partial planet gear and a sliding follower pin in a circular groove cam. The resulting action yields intermittent motion, as demonstrated in the analysis image. In this setup, the input is the planetary arm (green), while the output comprises the sun (blue) and the needle (yellow). The fixed groove cam (white) houses the planet's cam follower pin. A final animation illustrates the mechanism functioning with a camera attached to the arm. The model was created using Solidworks 2015, rendered in Simlab Composer 6 Mechanical Edition, and edited with Virtualdub, PhotoScape, IrfanView, MyMP4BoxGui, and Simlab Viewer. It is available in multiple formats, including 3D-PDF, ZIM, SIMLAB, DAE, STEP, IGES, STL, Parasolid, OBJ, SketchUp, 3DS, and 3D-PDF. The ZIM file can be viewed on iOS and Android devices using the free Simlab Viewer app.
