Interlocking Soccer Ball Pieces
thingiverse
This soccer ball-inspired design was inspired by the Modern Elements lamp shade and created using OpenSCAD on a Felix 2.0 printer. The plates print without supports, trimming, or support removal needed. Hinges can be easily removed from the print bed. For adjustments, open the scad file and modify variables tabthick and tabshift to control tab thickness and length. The current tab thickness is set at 1.2 with an extrusion width of 0.38, ensuring easy bending during assembly. Additionally, the scad file includes a module for generating regular polygons of side length 25mm for future customizable designs. For assembly, if you have a large enough plate, print one soccer_pent_hex_hex_pent_plate.stl and three soccer_pent_hex_hex_plate.stl. This will leave an extra pentagon-hexagon-hexagon chain as spare or removable. Alternatively, print 20 hexagons and 12 pentagons, then arrange them as shown in the provided pictures and snap them together, ensuring proper edge alignment.
