Interlocking Knockbox for Delonghi
thingiverse
I was searching for a more efficient solution to extract the coffee grounds from the portafilter of my DeLonghi EC 680. Up until now, I relied on a spoon or knocked the grounds onto a kitchen towel, both methods resulting in a big mess. With my interlocking/screw-on knockbox, it takes just two to three raps for the grounds to drop as a puck into the box and can be easily discarded in the bin or compost. The knockbox has sufficient room for two pucks, but I typically empty it after every use. It's possible that this design may fit other portafilters from different brands, but I haven't tested it extensively. This knockbox fits the 52mm inner diameter and three tabs of the DeLonghi EC 680 portafilter perfectly. Model: This is a remix of an interlocking funnel, with thanks to the original designer for determining the correct dimensions for the interlocking mechanism. The model already features supports for the interlocking tabs, which can be removed easily. I printed mine in TPU with high infill, allowing me to rap away on my kitchen counter without worrying about damage. The prototype was PLA and worked great as well, but may break more easily.
