Interactive Educational Clock for Children

myminifactory

This fully interactive educational clock is perfect for teaching kids how to read both analog and digital clocks. It's designed to teach 12 hour time and 24 hour time, making it ideal for kindergarten and first grade school children. This durable device can withstand the rough conditions of an elementary school classroom, ensuring it will last for years to come. According to a survey conducted in 2017, 80% of kids between the ages of 6-12 struggle with reading clocks (https://kfor.com/2017/03/12/study-4-in-5-oklahoma-city-students-cant-read-clocks/). This clock can significantly help decrease this statistic. The clock's arms were designed using FreeCAD, while the rest of the design was created in OpenSCAD. To achieve a multi-color design with different colored numbers, simply swap out the filament at specific layers. The first number color swap should be done around layer 43 (assuming .2 layer height), and another color swap for the colon should be done at about layer 105. The dial design was inspired by Marc Sulfridge's Customizable, Fully Parametric Thumb-wheel Combination Lock (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:213657). Several modifications and iterations were made to create a functional and durable device that kids will love using. The material cost for this print is approximately $2.50. A similar product made of less durable materials can be found on Amazon for $10.99 (https://www.amazon.com/Junior-Learning-Time-Flips-Clock/dp/B01LXCE2HH/ref=sr_1_77?keywords=learning+clock&qid=1571877710&sr=8-77).
