Inter-Locking PCI and ISA Card Holders

Inter-Locking PCI and ISA Card Holders

This is an interlocking stand for computer add-in cards in the ISA, PCI, and PCIe form factors. These will stand on their own or print two or more and click them together for a sturdy base that will hold as many cards in the vertical position as you need. This should help minimize any warping or "potatochip" damage to the larger vintage components. I needed a way to store a collection of ISA sound cards, so I came up with this design. The idea was inspired by seeing a similar project on Thingiverse that featured an interlocking clip for the back plates. I liked the concept but found no good solution to hold the card and protect the edge connector, so I set out to design a modular ISA card holder that will lock together and make a strip that you can set into whatever box, bin, or drawer you like. To accommodate older standards, I made modifications to the bracket lock. The result is a stand that can work with both modern PCI/PCIe cards and vintage 8 & 16-bit ISA cards. Included are files for two base versions: one for PCI/AGP/PCIe cards and one for 8 & 16-bit ISA cards. I also included three versions of the upper bracket lock, which were inspired by a similar design on Thingiverse. The original author is credited, but I claim no ownership of their parts only my modified versions. The 8x_lock_bottom ISA MODIFIED file will work with all add-in cards. The 8x_lock_top.stl file is the original version that works well for modern PCI/PCIe cards with a notch cut into the top of the back plate. My Half Lock Modified version, represented by the 8x_Lock_Top-Modified Half Lock Tab.stl file, should support older style back plates without a notch. The No Lock Modified Version, represented by the 8x_Lock_Top-Modified No Lock Tab.stl file, should work with whatever cards you want, but at the risk of being slightly loose. I believe this is the final revision as I have worked out all the bugs, but I might revisit and remake the lock top entirely to better align with ISA cards if needed. Printing specifications: * PLA @ 190C (actual about 187C) * 40C glass plate temperature * 1 top layer * 1 outer layer * 1 bottom layer * 13% infill (honeycomb)
