Intel NUC-based laptop WIP
thingiverse
One of the most mystifying things about the internet is when I post something exceptionally rickety, hardware-dependent and poorly-designed, and somebody wants me to post the files so they can punish themselves by making their own from scratch. In that vein, by inexplicable request, here's the rough draft of the laptop I made. [Motherboard](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N2UMKZ5/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1) (other NUC motherboards should fit. You'll need to de-case it and solder power leads directly to the underside of the power jack, which is not easy since the board has some level of conformal coating. You'll probably want to sand that away gently before soldering. Do I recommend doing any of this? Not at all! You'll need the hard drive and RAM of your choice.) [Screen](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071YD733X/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) (I don't recommend using this screen for a computer unless you want it for FPV as well, but that's what this case is designed for.) [Battery holders](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CWK81BJ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) (I used 3 of these, soldered end-to-end for a 3-series, 4-parallel configuration. This runs the motherboard and screen without any power regulators needed.) [CC/CV regulator](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0789QVKKF/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) (not perfect, but it's what this uses. The output needs to be dialed for 12.5v, 2a.) [BMS](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077ZY7Z3G/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) (these balance the cells in the battery. Wire it up as seen on the product page or your laptop will explode.) [I/O switches and LEDs](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074XDTVN1/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) (lots of cutting and soldering to do here. Had to solder directly to the pins on the MB because there's no clearance for the plugs and their pins are more closely aligned than expected.) [Power Connectors](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XBSL2JF/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=AW4U8IOJLRA19) (to tame the wild wires. Get yourself some good silicone wire while you're at it.) Again, this is a **REALLY ROUGH DRAFT** and is basically just reference at this point. There should be a lot of stuff that there isn't, and even embarking on this build means being comfortable with soldering really expensive stuff in a really irresponsible manner. Print out the bits and glue together with good CA glue. All screw bosses are designed for M3. For the Screen_HolderHT.STL, lay it flat and print one out in the standard orientation and one mirrored horizontally to make the opposite side.
