Integrated Gen4 Interface

Integrated Gen4 Interface

Before my Thing-O-Matic arrived, I thought of various enhancements for the machine. One key modification was integrating the Gen4 Interface directly into it. To achieve this, I designed a new mounting that allows the interface to swing out when needed and close back up inside the bot when not in use. This redesign accommodates both the interface parts and the 2 stepper drivers in the electronics area. I used the original Gen4 Interface PCBA and LCD panel, attaching them to printed parts made with my Thing-O-Matic. The hinge design features detents for secure positioning when fully retracted or extended. A temporary handle made from blue tape is currently in use until a permanent one is decided upon. This modification gives the bot a more polished look without affecting functionality. Due to the width of the top piece, it had to be printed as left and right halves, which were then glued together using acetone. Labels for buttons and lights were printed on Avery label stock, covered with clear packing tape for protection, and affixed to the machine's surface.
