Integrated Catch Handle

Integrated Catch Handle

thingiverse

A 3D-printed handle designed to hold a catch mechanism for homemade toy guns and attach to PVC pipe has gained popularity, often referred to as the "Purple Catch". Multiple handle files are provided for customization, primarily differing in their curve at the top, determining what size tube they best fit. Files with names beginning BP3-4xx come from the BullPAC 3, which fit 3/4" PVC, while PP-Handle and PP-Catch parts serve as an alternative for 1 1/4" PVC tubes. Both versions assume the catchplate needs to reach up to the center of the attached tube and function optimally with a notch cut into 1/2" round delrin or nylon rod. Holes for screw attachment are pilot holes that will probably require drilling and tapping, but may suffice by only being drilled. The trigger is made from two mirror pieces superglued together, while the trigger and catch must be smoothed with a file. In contrast, the handle requires minimal smoothing since it has few rough features. This 3D-printed part demands a printer capable of vertical travel exceeding 140mm to achieve necessary internal details and ensure very strong interlayer adhesion, a quality not guaranteed at other orientations due to insufficient design capabilities.
