Insulin, a peptide hormone derived from pancreatic beta cells, plays a crucial role in regulating carbohydrate and fat metabolism within the body. This model of insulin is based on the Protein Data Bank entry 4INS (http://www.pdb.org/pdb/explore/explore.do?pdbId=4INS) and was created using VMD software (http://www.ks.uiuc.edu/Research/vmd/). The cysteine residues forming disulfide bonds are represented as spheres. To print, use a Makerbot Replicator2 with MakerWare 2.2.2.89 at standard resolution; set to three shells and 25% infill. Ensure rafts and supports are utilized during the process.
