Insulation Shroud for Sony CRT Flyback Resistors

This is a very simple shroud designed to fit over the top of the large red glass high-voltage resistor that Sony uses in its PVM line of CRT monitors. I had a crack in mine that caused an arc to jump to a nearby grounding tab on the inside of the chassis, preventing the CRT from getting enough charge to display a picture. I did some research and found that the dielectric strength of PLA is about 33 kilovolts per millimeter, which would provide plenty of insulation strength against further arcs. In the event that your CRT has a cracked (or possibly chipped) glass block surrounding the high-voltage resistor assembly you may be able to use this shroud to cover it and prevent it from arcing to nearby circuitry or grounding points. **CAUTION:** This shroud should only be used in cases where the resistor itself is undamaged. If your HVR is faulty, this shroud **will not** help you. This should only be used if the glass surrounding the resistor has been cracked or chipped to prevent arcing. **Use great care when installing this part in your CRT. High voltages are present and can cause severe injury or death. IF YOU ARE NOT COMFORTABLE WORKING NEAR HIGH VOLTAGES, DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS REPAIR.** **When printing this part, you MUST print it at 100% infill. Air gaps inside of the part will reduce the dielectric strength of the part and reduce its effectiveness.** When printed at 100% infill, this shroud gives (roughly) 165kV of dielectric shielding on the 5mm thick sides, and 66kV on the 2mm side. Additionally, avoid metallic or black filaments as the ingredients in these could reduce the resistance of the part itself.
