Inside Earth
thingiverse
Inside Earth is a exploded view of the different layers of our wonderful planet. Almost three quarters of the earth need to be carefully assembled as shown in the pictures, while the remaining one quarter is intentionally loose so that it can be easily taken apart and put together for enhanced understanding and enjoyment. This exciting project aims to teach K-12 students about the fascinating layers of the earth they live on every day. The pieces are designed separately to allow printing them in various colors and materials, highlighting the contrasting characteristics between each layer. Due to the spherical design and positioning of the pieces, the earth should print perfectly with minimal or no supports needed. If you prefer printing pre-arranged groups for painting: Print Earth grouped parts1.stl (x1) Print Earth grouped parts2.stl (x1) Print Earth Core.stl (x1) If you prefer printing separate parts in different materials/painting colors: Print Crust.stl (x2) Print Crust_labeled.stl (x2) Print Mantle.stl (x2) Print Mantle_labeled.stl (x2) Print Outer Core.stl (x2) Print Outer Core_labeled.stl (x2) Print Earth Core.stl (x1) Printing Settings: Printer: BIO KOSSEL (KosselXL remix) * Rafts: Doesn't Matter * Supports: Doesn't Matter * Infill: 20% Notes: We highly recommend printing with a skirt that touches the pieces and has at least 5-10 loops for better adhesion to the bed, since most of each part does not touch it. After Printing: Finishing Touches: Use your preferred type of glue (we use two-part epoxy but any glue designed for plastic works fine, and some might be better for children) to carefully glue together three quarters of the earth (the parts are mostly interchangeable as long as all text faces outward and the core is in the center).
