inside cabinet door flip-up cookbook shelf
thingiverse
I needed something to keep my cookbook or tablet at eye level while cooking. This design folds flat against the inside of a cabinet door, which swings out near my usual work area. The "hinges" connect with turkey-lacing pins cut to the right length and with a small jag at the end so they hold when forced in. I get 10cm-long pins that are about 1.5mm in diameter, which means two equal-length halves meet in the middle block for each hinge (four pins or rods total). Any other steel rod or pin will also work. The upper pins were 6cm long and the lower ones were 8cm each. If you want to use the lower inside groove of your cabinet door to catch the back of the tray, you might not need to print the catches. I attached the parts using #6 screws, which are suitable since the pieces are about 1/4 inch thick. Three-eighths or half-inch screws will also work. Note: I added a hollow back for those who might want that.
