Insect tweezers/ Entomology Forceps/ Federstahlpinzette
thingiverse
Since I couldn't find any STL files for tweezers, specifically for handling insects, spiders and so on, on the entire net so far, I thought I'd just come up with a design for it myself. Well, there it is - a simple and quick way to print your own Entomology Forceps! These tweezers are particularly suitable for dealing with small animals, because due to the thin wall thickness as well as the small angle, only little force is exerted on the end of the tweezers and thus the animals are not harmed. Of course, you should still be careful when handling living animals. I have also included a "very fine" version, if your handling very small animals, like ants (Unfortunately I can't test how well this works, so feel free to give feedback in the comments if you use it for this purpose! =) ). However, the tweezers are also suitable for inserted specimens, e.g. within a practical course at the university or schools. I had tested the tweezers in an internship for zoological biodiversity, where I am currently helping out, and I find that you can work and grip the specimens very well with them - just like with the steel counterpart. There are three versions. The standard version is the one called "fine", there is also a slightly bigger and thicker tweezer and also a very fine version. Information for printing: - use a resolution of 0.1 - use a slow printing speed - if you're planing on using them with inserted specimens, use a ethanol-proof material like PLA - simply fold the tweezers at the predetermined breaking point (make sure that the ends meet each other as straight as possible), fix the rear end with adhesive tape and the tweezers are ready for use!
