Insect Screen Door Cat Flap
thingiverse
This is a compact cat flap with a minimal footprint and weight, designed to be screwed onto an insect screen door. Video: https://youtu.be/JeOhucPyz0o You will also need: 11x Bolts DIN912 - M2.5x4, e.g., from [schraubenhandel24.de](https://www.schraubenhandel24.de/din-912-zylinderschrauben-stahl-12-9-m2-5x4-100st/) 11x Nuts DIN934 - M2.5, e.g., from [schraubenhandel24.de](https://www.schraubenhandel24.de/din-934-6kt-muttern-edelstahl-a2-m2-5-500st/) 2x Neodymium Disc Magnets D=5mm, L=5mm, e.g., from [supermagnete.de](https://www.supermagnete.de/scheibenmagnete-neodym/scheibenmagnet-durchmesser-5mm-hoehe-5mm-neodym-n45-vernickelt_S-05-05-N) First, glue the nuts into the slots using a suitable adhesive (I used UHU HART) and let them dry. Next, use a piece of filament or a steel rod with 1.75 - 2 mm to mount the flap door. You can also place some small discs of PTFE between the frame and the flap door to keep the door centered. Then, place the pieces on your insect screen and screw the bolts through the net. Don't forget to put the disc magnet into place. I didn't glue it, so it will make a rattle noise when the cat enters or leaves. I glued the two parts and the net together, making removal more challenging. Do not tighten the bolts too much, as there won't be excessive stress. Then, if you're certain it will fit perfectly, use a sharp knife to cut the insect screen away. I also put some glue around the bolts on the unsupported corner beforehand to reduce stress on the net there. As the final step, put some glue into the place for the flap door magnet and insert the magnet in the correct direction. Maybe this design won't fit your insect screen door. In that case, I added an OnShape link. Just copy the design and modify it according to your needs. WARNING: No warranty is provided that this will last forever or meet your specific requirements. I had to replace the net anyway because cats scratched a hole into it. So, cutting a hole into the net was not a difficult decision for me to make.
