Insect hotel
thingiverse
I built a small insect hotel for backyard use, consisting of three chambers and a roof, each uniquely shaped to accommodate specific types of insects. Mainly designed with honeybees in mind, this structure will provide them with a welcoming habitat. The roof was attached securely on top of the frame using glue, while a screw ensured it remained firmly fixed to a nearby tree. To print the hotel, I oriented everything horizontally and omitted rafts or supports altogether. With an infill percentage of 20%, this project wasn't excessively long, although the layer height had some impact on the final duration. Measuring approximately 200mm in height, the insect hotel remains relatively compact, making it suitable for attachment to a tree or fencepost without obstructing its surroundings.
