A 9th-century sandstone inscription was unearthed in Oviedo and attributed to Alfonso III's fortress. The translation reads: "With this symbol, the righteous are safeguarded; with this symbol, adversaries are vanquished." A prayer requests divine protection for these doors, shielding them from the wrath of a deadly angel. Today, the artifact resides in the Museum of Archeology in Asturias, Oviedo, Spain.
