Inscription of the Royal Monastery of San Benito de Sahagún where it can be read that Bishop Fernando of Astorga consecrates the altar of the chapel (now called San Mancio) in honor of Saint Benedict in the year 1184, alongside Pedro, Bishop of Ciudad Rodrigo, Alfonso, Bishop of Orense, and Abbot Juan of the monastery itself. THIS ALTAR WAS CONSECRATED BY THE HAND OF LORD FERNANDO, BISHOP OF GOOD MEMORY FROM ASTURICA, IN HONOR OF SAINT BENEDICT, PRESENT AT THE EPISCOPAL SEE OF PETRO CITIZEN AND ADEPHONSO AURIENSE. UNDER WHICH ARE THE REMAINS OF THE TOMB OF HOLY MARY, AND ST. MARTYRS FACUNDUS AND VICTORIOUS, AND SAINT PRUDENTIUS.
