InMoov Eyeball for Ubisoft Motion Tracking Camera

The Hercules-made Ubisoft Motion Tracking Camera is one of the smallest, most versatile, and least expensive USB cameras available today, and it's specifically designed to do exactly what you need from a camera in your InMoov platform. It boasts an impressive 85-degree field of vision. After testing several different camera configurations, including fish-eye and wide-angle lens options with a Hercules Twist HD camera (as shown in the picture), as well as multiple other cameras and eye mechanisms, I decided to go with the current InMoov eye mechanism but create a new eyeball that allows me to place the camera at the very front of the eye. You can see from the pictures and images showing what those lenses produce in video that using a smaller lens and pushing it to the front of the eye significantly reduces the portion of the image blocked by the eye-glass face piece. This camera has a resolution of 640x480, but the image quality is surprisingly good, with clarity better than several HD cameras I own. You can find this tiny camera on eBay for often less than $10 including shipping. Note that there are two versions of this camera (WD04 and WD19), and this one, WD19, comes equipped with a microphone. Simply tuck it away. The eyeball-top easily glues onto the eyeball-bottom using super glue for PLA or acetone for ABS. Print the top in any color you prefer. I recommend setting the filament flow to be slightly heavier for the top. Additionally, I've included a one-piece eyeball that you can print as-is, paint, or modify to create a smaller or larger iris. The camera fits snugly inside the pupil and pushes through slightly without needing a mount. Instead, wrap your camera in blue painters tape, push it into place, and "glue" it in with silicone seal. It dries within 30 minutes, provides a secure hold, and can be easily removed if you decide to use the camera for something else later. Be sure to avoid getting silicone seal in the connector for the wire. I'm still refining this design and will post any notable improvements I make. I'd like to extend my gratitude to Monnerby and Bob Houston, as their eyeball concept served as a starting point, which I then adapted to accommodate the camera. Initially, I wanted to create a smaller, human-sized eye (25mm) that protruded through the eye-glass opening slightly, but I realized it would look unusual unless I modified the eye-glass piece, and it might not fit in the same space as the current InMoov mechanism. Better to keep things simple. I hope you enjoy this design. Please share an image if you use it.
