Inkwell from Bell Rock Lighthouse

This object from the collection of the Museum of Scottish Lighthouses is a decorative brass inkwell and pen rest featuring a bust of Neptune, Roman God of the sea. While its age remains unestablished, it was undoubtedly used at the Bell Rock Lighthouse – approximately 12 miles off Arbroath – beginning in 1910 and continuing until the station underwent modernization in 1963. It found a home in the station's library, situated directly below the lightroom. The 3D model of this object was designed by the Scottish Maritime Museum as part of their Scanning The Horizon project, collaborating with collections from Industrial Museums Scotland (Industrial Heritage).
