Inkscape to OpenSCAD converter

Download the paths2openscad-2.zip from this page for version 2 of this Inkscape extension. This tool exports Inkscape paths to OpenSCAD, handling SVG arcs, clones, circles, ellipses, groups, lines, paths, polygons, polylines, rects, and splines while following document transforms as well as viewports. It processes either an entire document or just the selected portions of a document. For SVG text conversion, use "Path > Object to Path" in Inkscape beforehand. To use, download the paths2openscad-2.zip and unzip it. Place the two files (paths2openscad.py and paths2openscad.inx) in your local Inkscape extension folder (either ~/.config/inkscape/extensions/ on Linux and OS X or directly into the Inkscape extension directory on Windows). Restart Inkscape, then find "Paths to OpenSCAD" under "Extensions > Generate from Path." Set document units to millimeters and dimensions in millimeters as well. Use "Display Mode" in the "View" menu to set display mode to "outline." Convert objects to paths with "Path > Object to Path," select desired objects, and click "Extensions" then "Generate from Path > Paths to OpenSCAD." Enter output file name, extrusion height, and smoothing parameter (0.2 is usually sufficient). Click "Apply" for extension to run; a pop-up window will appear when done. After opening the output file in OpenSCAD, render it. Be aware that only single level of polygon nesting is handled currently, so combine polygons using "Path > Combine" if subtracting one from another. Note that SVG text must first be converted to a path within Inkscape before using this extension, and some complex polygons may trigger internal error detection code in OpenSCAD. The sample files are examples only and not necessary for use of the extension.
