Inkscape coaster
pinshape
Helloooo, This is a coaster with the original Inkscape logo. If you're familiar with this program, you know it's a handy tool. I use it for making all my 2D images into 3D files, including this Inscape logo. To see how I did it, check out this link* for a short video and learn how to use Inkscape yourself! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6cmClwLhz8 (video* is under 6 min.) Print it with a single or multiple color, with filament or resin...and show me what you guys have made of it! I'd love to see this model printed in a different color or even material. This is a standard size coaster (100 by 100 by 5 mm), designed to fit in my coaster holder: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3130397 I've printed this model with Ultimaker white PLA, using 0.2mm layer height and 18% infill. My extruder was at 210 degrees Celsius, and I used a heated bed. To prevent curling up at the bottom, I added a brim. Feel free to use your own configuration! Design steps: I picked a logo from my browser and converted it into SVG format in Inkscape (see video*). Next, I opened the file in Blender and made it a 3D object. Then, I repaired the file using Meshmixer's 'Inspector' button under the 'Analysis' tab. After that, I added a drink coaster to the model. I created the drink coaster in 123D Design using simple modeling techniques. You can also choose to make a template of a drink coaster in another program, like Tinkercad. Alternatively, you can download a template from my website (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3542555). To create the negative model, I used 123D Design to subtract the file from a coaster. The resulting STL file was then sliced for printing. However, since the model still had some issues after repairing it in Meshmixer, I decided to export it into Netfabb Online Service. This free STL repair service almost worked perfectly, and after using it, I previewed the model in my slicer (which is something I highly recommend doing before printing a model). The preview looked great with perfect lines, so I was able to print it without any problems. Best regards, Raimon of IdeaLab
