Inishtrahull Island - Built Heritage
sketchfab
Ireland's northernmost island, Inishtrahull, is located about 10 kilometers north-east of Malin Head in County Donegal. The island boasts Ireland's northernmost lighthouse, a beacon that has stood tall for generations. Once home to a thriving community, the island was inhabited until 1929, when residents finally departed. For another five decades, the lighthouse continued to be manned by dedicated personnel until 1987, marking the end of an era. Today, Inishtrahull lies empty and untouched, its rugged landscape now protected due to its incredible wildlife. This project was made possible thanks to a Community Heritage Grant, generously provided by the Inishtrahull Bird Observatory at www.inishtrahullbirdobs.ie, with additional support from Twitter accounts @inishtrahullobs and @IrishLights.
