Create a housing for an infrared proximity sensor by utilizing a 5mm infrared emitting diode and a 5mm infrared sensing diode. Purchase wire in two different colors. Following the instructions, attach wires to the base of each diode while keeping track of positive and negative leads. Insert the diodes into their designated slots: place the receiving diode in the shallow hole near the surface, and the emitting diode in the deep one for increased sensitivity. Secure the parts with super glue at their intersection. Finally, connect the wires, write your code, and enjoy using your newly-created sensor.
