Inflatable pool drain assistant
thingiverse
We have a 10x6 inflatable pool with a drain plug in its bottom. Unfortunately, this setup has two major problems: The weight of the water inside the pool forces the drain hole close to the ground, drastically reducing water flow. Also, the outflow of water pulls the drain plug flap onto the drain hole, further limiting the flow of water. This design consists of an upper and lower part. The lower piece holds up the bottom of the pool sufficiently for water to drain through holes in its sides. To use it, place this piece under the pool only when you're ready to drain it, then insert it upwards through the open drain hole. The upper part screws into the lower one. It has a wide skirt that keeps the drain plug flap down. Before using this design, I need to test whether it can support the weight of the water in the pool and whether it allows for sufficient drainage. I've anticipated at least 1 or 2 potential issues that might arise and require changes to the design.
