Wind turbines have several major drawbacks that highlight the need for an alternative design. In most areas, wind speed increases with elevation. Large horizontal axis wind turbines rely heavily on wind speed to generate power; they are typically installed on tall and expensive structures or towers. These towers are costly to build onsite and extremely difficult to transport. Servicing the generators or machinery atop these towers can be hazardous and expensive. Wind turbines must face directly into the wind, which is achieved through the use of a tail vane or by motorizing the tower to change the direction of the turbine. Furthermore, high-speed horizontal axis wind turbines kill thousands of birds and bats each year. Infinite wind tunnel turbines address some of the problems associated with conventional turbines. They do not require orientation to face the wind and are independent of natural wind speed. Infinite wind tunnel turbines can be installed directly on top of buildings and utilized in areas where wind direction frequently changes, such as urban regions. The generators are situated either above or beneath ground level and are generally easier to maintain. They provide stable power output for as long as required. To illustrate the concept, an infinite wind tunnel is essentially a tunnel with vertical shafts. Essentially, what occurs here is that the difference in elevation generates a constant airflow through the shafts powering our generators. It functions similarly to a massive fireplace chimney.
