Infill Coasters
thingiverse
A coaster is necessary to place dishes and cups on so they don't damage tables. You can easily make the coasters more interesting by showcasing infill patterns as well. ___ Printing coasters with repeating designs can be achieved quickly using the method outlined below, which is much faster than traditional printing methods (with predefined patterns). Simply set up your slicer to print the file the way you normally would, but instruct the slicer that you don't want the top or bottom layers; only print perimeters and infill. It's recommended that you choose "full" infill patterns, such as full honeycomb, grid, triangle, and wiggle, because they produce a more appealing and durable finished coaster. Using 3D patterns is also worth trying. Note that coasters with infill variants may not be able to handle extremely sweaty cups; however, they should still protect tables from scratches and dents/chips. ___ I find that using larger nozzles and lines produces better-looking results and prints faster than standard 0.4mm nozzles. In the above prints, I used a 0.6mm nozzle (except for the two solid coasters made with wood PLA).
