Ineterlocking chess board with hidden tile links

thingiverse

I viewed some of the board designs on Thingverse and I didn't want to display the connection keys between each tile and I didn't want to leave a gap between tiles. This design features interlocking tiles with a horizontal overlap integrated into one of the tile colors. Pictured with the board is a set of play pieces from Mark Durbin's Dr Who Chess Set on Thingiverse. Printing Color 2 tiles upside down resulted in a better outcome due to overhangs. I also found it beneficial to cluster tiles into half batches in case of failure. The design has very tight tolerances. On my Prusa Mk3, it works great with a resolution of .2mm and a 20% fill. Each tile includes a .1mm buffer built into the sizing to allow for variations and fit. ### Assembly: Assemble the Color 1 and Color 2 notched tiles first. Then assemble the regular color 2 tiles (which act as a cap for the other two tile types). Center Tile Color 1: 18 pieces Center Tile Color 2: 9 pieces Center Notch Tile Color 2: 9 pieces Side Tile Color 1: 12 pieces Side Tile Color 2: 6 pieces Side Tile Color 2 Notch: 6 pieces Corner Tile Color 1: 2 pieces Corner Tile Color 2: 1 piece Corner Tile Color 2 Notch: 1 piece
