Industrial Worm Gearbox / Gear Reducer (Cutaway version)
myminifactory
PART OF MY INDUSTRIAL GEARBOX COLLECTION This is a fully functional, 3D printable version of an industrial worm gearbox / gear reducer. This cutaway model can be used for training purposes, and it features a gear ratio of 1:30. Worm gears are made up of two main parts: the "worm" and the "worm gear". The worm is a gear with a screw-like shape, which means that when the worm turns 360 degrees, the worm gear rotates one tooth. Worm gear reducers are commonly used in applications where high speed reduction is necessary, especially when space is limited. Another advantage of the worm gear is its ability to prevent back driving. No additional hardware is required for assembly! UPDATE 7-16-2018 I've added a cap that can make the gearbox non-cutaway, as seen in the green parts of the fourth picture. When you want the gearbox to be non-cutaway, you'll need to print the two files named with NON-CUTAWAY.
