The chimney of the Museum of Science and Technology of Catalonia, the Vapor Aymerich, Amat i Jover, represents the best modernist industrial architectural work in the country. Designed by architect Lluís Muncunill i Parellada (Sant Vicenç de Fals, 1868 - Terrassa, 1931), the factory began construction on Rambla d'Ègara in 1907 and was inaugurated a year later. The Vapor (a designation stemming from the use of steam engines as motive power) housed the entire industrial process of wool transformation, from its entry as a bale to its exit as finished textiles.
