INDUCTIVE SENSOR RACK AND PINION - DRAKON EXTRUDER BODY
thingiverse
THIS IS A MANUAL ADJUST SENSOR CARRIAGE FOR AUTOMATIC BED LEVELING. THE MAIN PROBLEM I HAD WITH AUTO LEVELING WAS THAT MY BED (MADE OF 3MM PLYWOOD) WOULD OCCASIONALLY WARP, REQUIRING ME TO REDO ALL THE ADJUSTMENTS BETWEEN THE X-AXIS AND THE SENSOR HEIGHT. I ALSO DIDN'T QUITE LIKE THE ADJUSTMENT OPTIONS AVAILABLE IN THE FIRMWARE. THE POINT OF THE RACK AND PINION CARRIAGE FOR THE SENSOR WAS TO DECREASE TIME SPENT ADJUSTING MECHANICAL PARTS AND SOFTWARE/FIRMWARE SETTINGS. DECREASING WEIGHT AND SIZE WAS ALSO A GOAL, WITH THE AIM OF KEEPING THE SENSOR AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE TO THE NOZZLE. YOU MUST FULLY INSERT THE KEY INTO THE ALLEN BOLT. TIGHTEN TWO M3 NUTS SO THEY ARE CENTRED RELATIVE TO THE RACK AND PINION GEAR. TO OBTAIN A SECURE FIT FOR THE PINION, YOU MUST TIGHTEN TWO M3 NUTS RELENTLESSLY WHERE THEIR PROFILE MATCHES, THEN PUSH THEM INTO THE PINION. FINALLY, TIGHTEN THE LAST M3 NUT AGAINST THE OUTSIDE PROFILE OF THE CARRIAGE. THIS SHOULD PROVIDE A FIRM FIT FOR ALL PARTS AND REDUCE THE DISTANCE FROM THE EXTRUDER. HARDWARE USED (EXCLUDING DRAKON MOUNT HARDWARE): 1. M3 X 20MM ALLEN BOLT * 3. M3 NUT IF YOU ENJOY THIS DESIGN, PLEASE VISIT https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2822941
