Inductive Proximity Switch

Inductive Proximity Switch

grabcad

An inductive proximity switch operates using inductance principles, containing an electromagnetic coil for detecting conductive metal objects. It ignores non-metallic objects. When a metal target enters the field, eddy currents circulate within it, increasing load on the sensor and decreasing the electromagnetic field's amplitude. As the target nears the sensor, eddy currents intensify, further reducing the field's amplitude. The trigger circuit monitors oscillator amplitude, switching output state at predetermined levels, ensuring normal 'on/off' functionality as the target moves away and oscillator amplitude rises.
