Induction Heater ZVS Coil Winding Jig
thingiverse
After getting fed up with wobbly coils that were difficult to wind, I decided to take matters into my own hands and create a jig that would allow me to wind coils much easier and with more precision, giving me a degree of customisability in terms of the spacing of the windings. The coil is designed to fit perfectly inside 16mm OD glass tubes, which are commonly used in heaters, making it ideal for the VapOven kit. It's also suitable for use with coil wire that's around 2.2mm in diameter, typically what comes with the 12V ZVS Module units. I've included a couple of holes on either side that can be used to secure one end of the coil in place using zipties or twist-ties, helping prevent the whole coil from twisting while you're making your wraps. One end features a handy handle with indents for fingers and thumbs, providing added grip and comfort. The middle section is hollow, saving filament and making it easier to work with. There are also flat edges on either side, allowing you to adjust the spacing of the windings as desired – just skip a row and move on to the next one! You don't need to worry about using supports, as the coil should be stable without them.
