Indoor Propeller Pitch Gauge
thingiverse
A prop pitch gauge modeled after the A2Z gauge. Select radius of 1, 2, 4, or 6". Lock protractor with optional thumb screw from 15 to 60 degrees, for assembling props. Or free movement for measuring props. Includes a pitch table covering 30-46 degrees at 2, 4, and 6" radii. STL's may need rotation for best printing. Protractor, wire clamp, and stands best printed laying flat. Protractor stand will need support. Required parts: (4) #8 x 1/2" flat head wood screws for stands to base (2) #4 x 3/8 pan head sheet metal screws for protractor pivot and wire clamp 0.015 to 0.020 wire to make clamp for prop shaft (1) #6 x 3/4" machine screw for protractor clamp, screw in from rear (1) #6 knurled nut or wing nut (not shown) for protractor clamp Sharpie for highlighting protractor scale and pitch chart (I used silver on black, and black on grey) After printing, use a 6-32 tap to thread the hole in the protractor stand for the locking stud. Thread in the machine screw from the rear and snug. Then the knurled nut tightens on the stud, rather than moving threads often in the plastic. Wire clamp has a rectangular shape to hold the prop shaft into he grove. Then the two legs bend back toward the stand, and again parallel to the stand where they get clamped with the small clamp and screw. If needed clean up the V groove with a sharp single edge razor. The shims allow adjusting the height of either the prop stand or the protractor for prop assemblies that don't fit quite right (for example, a VP hub). If too many shims needed, you may need longer screws.
