Indoor Propeller Pitch Gauge
thingiverse
A precision tool kit modeled after the A2Z gauge. Choose from four selectable radii: 1", 2", 4" or 6". Lock the protractor in place with an optional thumb screw from 15 to 60 degrees for assembling props, or enjoy free movement for measuring props. Includes a comprehensive pitch table covering 30-46 degrees at 2", 4" and 6" radii. STL files may require rotation for optimal printing results. The protractor, wire clamp and stands print best when laid flat. The protractor stand will need additional support during printing. Required components: * Four #8 x 1/2" flat head wood screws to secure the stands to the base * Two #4 x 3/8" pan head sheet metal screws for the protractor pivot and wire clamp * 0.015 to 0.020 gauge wire for creating a prop shaft clamp * One #6 x 3/4" machine screw for the protractor clamp, installed from the rear * A #6 knurled nut or wing nut (not shown) for the protractor clamp * A Sharpie for highlighting the protractor scale and pitch chart After printing, use a 6-32 tap to thread the hole in the protractor stand for the locking stud. Install the machine screw from the rear and snug it down. Then, tighten the knurled nut on the stud rather than risking frequent thread stripping. The wire clamp features a rectangular design that securely holds the prop shaft in place within the groove. The two legs then bend back toward the stand before being clamped with a small clamp and screw. If necessary, clean up the V-groove with a sharp single-edge razor blade. Adjustable shims enable adjusting the height of either the prop stand or the protractor for assemblies that don't fit perfectly (for example, a VP hub). If too many shims are needed, consider using longer screws.
