Indoor Micro FPV Copter

Indoor Micro FPV Copter

thingiverse

A micro FPV quadcopter designed for beginners, built around the Scisky brushed flight controller board. This board is perfect for indoor practice and running Cleanflight software, allowing you to customize it as desired. The camera can be easily removed by unplugging it and releasing the elastic band that holds it in place. This makes it simple to practice acrobatic tricks indoors with a small and lightweight quadcopter that won't cause significant damage if it crashes. Design considerations: All electronics can be detached without soldering, even if you break the frame (although it is proving to be quite durable so far). The camera can be quickly removed and secured with either a zip tie or an elastic band. This means that in case of a crash, the antenna will simply become dislodged rather than being damaged. Hardware Required You'll need the following components: Scisky Brushed Flight Controller: http://www.radioc.co.uk/Micro-scisky-32bit-brushed-fc-p/3119.htm Motors: http://www.dronejunkie.co.uk/product/cl-0820-coreless-motor/ Battery: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewitem.asp?idproduct=37566 Camera: http://www.banggood.com/Eachine-EF-01-AIO-5_8G-40CH-25MW-VTX-800TVL-13-Cmos-FPV-Camera-p-1064301.html Some Hubsan propellers Optionally, if you have a Spektrum transmitter that doesn't support DSM2 (such as one from Europe): Lemon RX receiver: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lemon-RX-DSMX-Satellite-Receiver-UK-Same-Day-Shipping-Spektrum-Compatible-/262538941725 Build Guide There is a comprehensive guide available here: http://community.micro-motor-warehouse.com/t/how-to-set-up-scisky-fc-step-by-step/1224 To set up the quadcopter, connect the motors to the closest motor connection on the board. Ensure that you get the motor rotations correct based on the color of their wires. You should be able to wrap the wires around the arms before inserting them into the motor holders. It's a good idea to add a small amount of glue to prevent the motors from sliding up and down in their mounts. Optional Lemon RX DSMX Receiver If you are in the EU and have a recent Spektrum DSMX/DSM2 transmitter, it won't bind with this flight controller because DSM2 has been banned in Europe. The Scisky board only supports DSM2, so it won't bind either. To overcome this, get a Lemon RX DSMX satellite from the link above and connect it to your flight controller board as per the instructions in this thread: http://community.micro-motor-warehouse.com/t/fc-scisky-dsmx-satellite-mod/522 The key to getting the Lemon RX to bind is to use the Cleanflight CLI to set "spektrum_sat_bind = 9" (or maybe 7, I forget which worked for me). Details are available in the above forum post. I used liquid electrical tape to secure the 3.3V connection on the main board. Hot glue would also work well. Then, I wrapped mine in heatshrink to prevent it from shorting with anything on the main flight controller board. Lemon RX mod connected to Serial connector and taking power from a pad on the board. The Lemon RX receiver is wrapped in heat shrink and packed on top of the Scisky flight controller board. The two antennas poke out of the front and back of the copter. First Flight Video
