Customizable, modular furniture for living room applications. Key Features: - Load capacity per floor: approximately 15kg - Adjustable feet for stability and balance - Individual size and appearance options to suit any taste Required Parts: - 3D printed nodes - Square steel tube (16x16mm, 1mm thickness) - Wooden panels of your choice (recommended thickness: 13-15mm) - Wood screws - M4 countersunk screws - M4 nuts - M4 washers - M6 nuts (one per foot) - M6 x 30 hexagon bolts (one per foot) Tools Required: - Steel saw for cutting steel tube - Soldering iron for melting screws and nuts - Hammer for tapping and shaping metal - Screwdriver for driving screws - 7mm open-end/ring spanner for tightening nuts Building the Furniture: 1.1: Print out the required number of nodes, remove support structures, and grind off remnants 1.2: Remove support structure, grind remnants 1.3: Print feet 1.4: Melt M6 screws in feet 1.5: Melt M6 nut at the appropriate point in Knoten_Typ_Fx 2.1: Cut 16x16mm square steel tube to desired length 2.2: Deburr, grind off rust 2.3: Drill holes for screws and then deep-draw (see deep-drawing tool *) 2.4: Prime profiles 3.1: Assemble profiles and nodes together with carefully metered force 3.2: Mount the feet 3.3: Paint the furniture in desired color 3.4: Fasten boards with wood screws between profiles The Story Behind It: Since commercially available furniture did not meet my expectations, a DIY piece was needed. The result looked great but was very time-consuming to manufacture and completely over-engineered. It required over 200 labor-intensive MAG weld seams. Therefore, for the second piece of furniture, a more efficient solution was needed. The Solution: Printed nodes, on which steel profiles are attached, with tables screwed onto the steel profiles holding everything together. A calculation determined a load capacity of 30kg per node, confirmed by a test.
