Indirect Tail Drive Gear Protector T-Rex 450L Dominator
thingiverse
The 450L boasts an impressively low bottom clearance at the tail rotor, necessitating a crucial adjustment to the tail fin. This modification ensures the tail rotor remains safely aloft, even on uneven grass flying fields where contact with the ground is imminent. Failure to adjust results in catastrophic gear stripping of the tail drive. The tail fin fits snugly into its protector, and for added security, it can be secured with a locking screw if desired. A more elegant solution to the bottom clearance conundrum lies in adjusting the landing skid. Drawing inspiration from a similar model created by Alex9779 in 2015, I am working on adapting this design. Notably, my version features an additional 5-degree lift, but with a distinct aesthetic due to the lower positioning of the front legs compared to the original. This revised design has the potential to be printed as a single cohesive piece. The STL file is now available for download, and forthcoming photos will showcase the printing results.
