The tabar, alternatively known as the tabarzin, translates to "saddle axe" in Persian. The teber is its equivalent term in Modern Turkish. This battle-axe type has been used extensively across various cultures and empires including Ottoman Empire, Persia, India, and surrounding nations. Its influence can be seen in many Slavic languages where it's employed as a direct translation for "axe," borrowed from Iranian Scythian roots.
