Indexed Bolt Hobbing Jig for rotary tool

Indexed Bolt Hobbing Jig for rotary tool

thingiverse

A jig is presented that allows 8mm or 5/16" bolts (or rods with nuts) to be indexed in 19 positions, solving previous issues of uneven teeth from manual hobbing using a rotary tool. The creator shared a video demonstrating its use and credits several Thingiverse designs for inspiration. To use the jig, place the bolt flush inside the ratchet gear and insert it into the block. Secure the jig in a vice or clamp, then grind the first tooth using a rotary tool before rotating the bolt one notch clockwise. Repeat this process until all teeth are hobbed. The design file is available for further customization.
